How to Prepare for a Psychic Reading

0

Many people believe that a psychic reading is a fun way to spend half an hour, and something you can do on a whim to get the results you want. Unfortunately, that is not the case. A psychic reading should not be entered into lightly. Doing so can jeopardize the entire experience, and be a waste of money for you, and a waste of time for both you and the psychic you consult.

To get the most out of a psychic reading, go into it with an open mind and heart. Having a positive outlook is one key to a positive outcome from a reading, and positive results in your life. At the same time, have common sense, and be aware that things may change. Just because a path is plotted when you walk into an appointment with a psychic doesn’t mean it will not deviate later based upon your own free will and choices in life.

Everything changes, even the future, so you must be prepared for any surprise information that comes your way in a reading. It is not always clear what we will get back from a reading, even when we are prepared, so it is important to be patient with the psychic and be open to anything that comes up.

At the same time, it is necessary to trust your gut. Be able to acknowledge if the reading or the psychic seem off, or if there is a disconnect between the two of you. Oftentimes you can reschedule the reading for a time when you are both in a better place mentally or emotionally to connect in the spiritual way necessary for a productive psychic reading.

The importance of being prepared for a psychic reading cannot be stated enough. Some skeptics go into a reading with a negative mindset and try to intentionally block the psychic, which can lead to a bad reading for both parties. It is important to leave your skepticism at the door.

If you go into a reading expecting negative results, you will get what you ask the divine for, which is a waste of your time and the psychic’s. Without some faith in the process and the abilities of the psychic, nothing can be accomplished except for an expansion of your negative emotional and mental energy. Feeding the negativity monster will only draw more negativity into your life.

Being prepared for the appointment means more than just being in a positive mindset before the reading. You also need to make sure your body and mind are ready for the challenge of a psychic reading. If your psychic reading will be over the phone or online, it is imperative that you be in a quiet and relaxed place before you connect with your psychic.

The night before should be a calm one in which you get plenty of sleep and are well hydrated. This means saying no to drugs, alcohol, and even excessively greasy or gastronomically distressing foods. If there are errands you need to run, or chores that need to be done before you can relax, you should take care of those well in advance of your reading. Turn off all electronic devices that will not be used for your reading, such as televisions, telephones, and computers, so that your environment is conducive to the best possible results.

After you empty your environment of external stimuli, you also want to free your mind of the distractions of the day. Journal or meditate for 15 minutes to half an hour before the session to clear your mind of negative baggage. Concentrate instead on what you want answered with the expectation that you will get the answers you desire.

Make sure that you have one overall question about your life path or goals that you want answered, but don’t go into a psychic reading with only that one question. You should have a list of at least six or seven questions that you want answered, and meditate on them in the hours prior to the reading.

These questions should not be “yes or no” questions, but open-ended questions that take the form of “What Ifs” and timing questions. Ask how to avoid potential problems and pitfalls in your future, but do not ask personal questions about other people. Answering such questions would be morally wrong of the psychic.

One question you need to ask your psychic before you begin is if the session will be recorded in some way. If so, you can request a copy of the recording to listen to later when you are in a different frame of mind and can receive everything it has to offer. If not, ask to record it yourself, or at the minimum take notes of anything you think you want to remember and go over later.

Say prayers aloud to anyone you want to speak to before the session in order to get the kind of information you want. If you do not get the right person, however, you should still pay attention to the message. As long as nothing feels totally off, you should always let the session go where it needs to go. When things take a detour, it may simply be that your subconscious is speaking, and you need to listen.

While the session is on, be sure to ask questions if you are unsure about something or need clarification. If things are going too fast, or you get lost in all the information, feel free to ask the psychic to slow down or backtrack. You will not interrupt his or her “flow” by questioning the answers you are getting and asking for more information. The more information you get, the better your results will be in the reading.

Prior to making an appointment, you must find the right psychic for you. Not every psychic is right for every person. Word of mouth is the best way to find the kind of psychic that is right for you. Ask people you know who go to psychics what their preferences are. If no one you know visits psychics, read reviews online before you make your selection.

Once you have a list of potential psychics to visit, make a list of questions you would like to ask the psychic prior to the appointment. Some examples of questions you can ask are how the psychic runs sessions, the kind of information he or she needs, the kind of information he or she believes can be uncovered, and how long sessions usually last. Do your research on the psychic before you commit to an appointment. Your psychic should be uplifting and hopeful.

Once you do make an appointment for a psychic reading, remember to schedule it with plenty of time before and after. You want time before to be properly prepared, and time after in order to come back from what will probably be an emotional rollercoaster. Make sure that the psychic cleanses his- or herself before the reading to get rid of any leftover energy from the previous readings and his or her own emotional baggage.

If the session starts going badly, or if the psychic is negative or not listening to your needs, end the session immediately. You can either reschedule after talking to the psychic about what you need out of the session, or find another psychic from the list you made previously.

After your appointment, be prepared for the emotions that will inevitably come up inside you. You may be sad, angry, anxious, or overwhelmed. It is important to name your feelings and experience them fully before you shut down and allow your body and mind to heal. It is advisable to take a nap after a psychic reading. Such a spiritual journey into the mind is taxing on even the strongest client, and you need time to properly recuperate before you can go through everything you learned in the session.

Remember that if you learn something you don’t want to learn about yourself or your future, it is not the psychic’s fault. We have all heard the saying, “Don’t shoot the messenger,” and it definitely applies in the case of a psychic reading. The true psychic will only tell you what he or she learns from you and the divine. This is where taking notes or recording is especially useful. Going back through the session when you are more emotionally able can help reveal things you may not have understood during the reading.

The final thing to know about a psychic reading is that you don’t want to contact the psychic in public. Leave the psychic’s work in his or her office. Likewise, do not follow up with another call or e-mail with additional questions after the session. The best way to get along well with your psychic advisor is to be professional, and respect the boundaries of the relationship. By following these tips, your psychic reading will be a positive, rewarding experience.
