Preparation for the Full Flower Moon

Preparation for the Full Flower MoonSun Opposition Moon (Full Moon) falls at 01° Sagittarius on May 21 2016 at 5:15 p.m. EST.

The May Moon is known as Dyad Moon (Gemini) refers to the twin stars of the constellation Castor and Pollux, Dyad being the Latin word for a pair. It is commonly known as the Flower Moon or Milk Moon (Colonial), Corn Planting Moon (Native American), and Hare Moon (England). Other names include Grass Moon, Seed Moon, Bright Moon, and Dragon Moon (China). In most areas Europe and the United States, the earth is becoming fertile again with temperatures rising – warm enough for animals safely bearing young. This moon falls at the end of the last nights of frost, and many plants are in abundance and in bloom. It begins the time for planting.

Like its zodiac association of Taurus, and the element of Earth, now is a good time for communication with beings of spirit and the natural world. Just as all Full moons connect to relationships, it would be appropriate to consider how you will recommit yourself to the Divine and the Earth at this time.

Astrologically speaking, the May Moon has a strong Mars theme of relationship aggression and tension as the Moon/Mars opposite Sun/Venus is an unstable polarity, requiring compassion, patience and understanding to work through. Remember to be supportive, empathetic, and supportive to others. By being in touch with your own needs and desires, while staying aware of those of your loved ones, you will clearly see any imbalances in your relationships causing disharmony.

When the moon is in Sagittarius, consider working with the aspects of religion, metaphysics, long-distance travel (including astral), confidence, and higher learning. Sagittarius also encourages flights of imagination, making this an excellent opportunity for dream work and dream magick. Work and spells involving psychic ability, publications, sports and the truth are also magnified at this time. Consider planting the spiritual seeds on the Flower Moon of what you wish to bring to fruition by the Harvest Moon.

- 4 drops gardenia essential oil
- 3 drops of jasmine essential oil
- 2 drops lotus oil
- 1 drop of rose essential oil

Mix prior to the full moon. Place in a clear container or vial to charge in the light of the full moon, and remove before sunrise. You can use this oil to anoint candles or yourself for full moon rituals or just when you feel like you need the moons energy.
