Life After Divorce

If your partner comes to you and says that they want a divorce, the pain is immense; particularly if you don’t see it coming. Having this type of emotional pain inflicted on you is tough and hopefully you have a good belief system in some sort of spiritual realm; plus a support system by way of friends and family.

Even if you both saw it coming and it is not a surprise, or it is a mutual agreement, it is still a tremendously difficult procedure to go through.  Perhaps it was in the cards and you truly knew it was coming, or you are the one who asked for it, it will still require an adjustment and a new way of living your life.

To realize it’s really over is going to have an effect on you. So what can you do?  The first thing to do if you do see it coming or are the one asking for it is to be prepared as much as you can and be as compassionate as much as you can. As karma says what we put out we will get in return. So we must be as best as we can at handling the situation with dignity and grace as much as possible.

If, on the other hand, you are the one being asked for a divorce and are completely caught off-guard, immediately turn to your spirituality and friends and family for support.  The devastation of this type of divorce is traumatic and you will need the support of your beliefs, your advisors and your family and friends.

Once it’s out in the open that the person you promised to love, honor and be loyal to for the rest of your life no longer wants that with you, then the rejection is overwhelming. And it’s probably one of the most damaging things you will ever go through in your life.

The first thing you must do is to realize you will recover but it will take a lot of work on your part and a lot of support from your beliefs, your family and your friends.  But you must realize deep within yourself that you will recover; that no matter how bad it seems right now that you will come out of it stronger and more aware and wise.

When divorce first happens some people have reported that they feel like they are in a tunnel.  But you must realize you can escape from this tunnel of gloom and get to the light at the other side of the tunnel.  It just takes time and work and listening and acting on the advice of your advisors.

Through the recovery you will grow as a person and you will strengthen your beliefs in whatever you belief spiritually. That is for sure. And that is a good thing that will come from such a horrible and traumatic situation.

Eventually, your self esteem will come back and you will learn how to let go of the guilt and depression that usually goes along with divorce.  Additionally, you will also get back your self confidence and become more and more the kind of person you want to become.  Again, the important thing is to look to your beliefs and follow them and their guidance. They will guide you on the path to healing and recovery.  They will also lead you back to a way to fulfill your new dreams and to be a happy, productive person again.
