Like so many other full moons that have come before this one, the Cancer Full Moon in January is going to cause a bit of trouble for those who are already having a difficult transition time. If you’ve been going through a lot of changes in your life, this is not going to be a time when things will settle down. As the full moon is in Cancer, it appears that you will be experiencing the watery emotions that come with this sign - and this will be a time of profound shifting.
Do You Need to Change?
Most of us realize that we need to change in order to grow, but with all of the shifts that have already taken place in 2011, it might be difficult to accept that more change is necessary. If you stop to think about it, however, you know that there is something brewing in 2012, something that could profoundly change who you are, and who you want to become. For today, try thinking about what you might want to change in your life, even if it’s something small. When you start small, it can be encouraging when you see results - and those scary changes don’t seem so scary anymore.
How to Ride on the Water
The watery emotions of Cancer encourage us to be brave in the feelings we feel. They will hit us hard when we’re in the full moon, since we’re at the point when the moon’s energy is at its maximum fullness. We are waxing in this moment, and we feel that there is no way for us to feel better, but this is not the case. Instead, remember that the full moon is the point when you begin to create a new potential for growth as the moon begins to build into her fullness again. And so can you. You are at a tipping point of expanding your heart and your emotional landscape.
Emotional Navigation
The emotions you feel can be overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to be afraid. Instead, you need to learn to give yourself some time to think about them, to enjoy what they might be teaching you. These feelings are actually going to guide you to the answers you’ve been looking for. So, instead of doing everything you can to avoid feeling what you feel, stop and allow yourself to feel things. This will give you a chance to see WHY you’re feeling the way you are. When you avoid the feelings, they tend to stop coming back, and that means you’re missing out on lessons that could help you become an even stronger person.
Emotions are not a bad thing, especially when it’s a full moon in Cancer. To start off 2012, think about looking squarely into the eyes of your emotions, and listen to what they are trying to tell you. You might just find that things get smoother once you allow yourself to ride the watery waves.
